What is GDPR?

It’s a law related to processing personal data of citizens of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).

Why is Hive bound by the GDPR?

Our services are available to customers from all over the world, including the EU.

Our service stores the conversation between the user and their members which are created on Hive by the user or member.

If the customer invites their team members inside their account or group, their team members will have access to those threads.

Hive also stores the LiveChat data that happens on the website.

Any user of Hive also has the ability to build applications, which the user can remove from Hive at any given moment.

What are Threads and LiveChat?

A thread is a conversation that a user are contributes to inside our app known as Hive.

A LiveChat is a conversation that happens in the LiveChat window.

Data Removal Process

The user has the ability to delete all pieces of information contributed on Hive.

The user also has control over deleting their workspace, groups and application. Once the workspace is deleted, we have no control, and cannot retrieve it in any way as it is permanently deleted from our system.

What are the user rights provided by GDPR?

Here are some user rights under the GDPR that you need to consider:

  • The right to amend, access, and receive copies of personal data.
    Any user can access this data from their account.
  • The right to erase data.
    Any user can delete their personal data. It’s also known as the right to be forgotten. They can erase the user’s data very easily.
  • Limitations on data processing.
  • The right to object to the processing of personal data.
